What We Do

Since fall of 2018, Cornell undergraduates and graduate students participating in CCRI have partnered with high schools across the U.S. to deliver holistic, person centered mentorship to FGLI, BIPOC high school students.

Partner schools:

Ithaca High School

Galena Park High School

Program elements:

  • One-on-one mentor/mentee meetings

Cornell undergraduates and U.S. high school students meet via Zoom to discuss different components of the college application process, according to CCRI’s timeline and handbook

  • Monthly Zoom workshops

Monthly workshops foster a sense of community among FGLI, BIPOC high school and college students while also allowing them to utilize resources to craft their applications

  • Podcasts

Whether it’s on their way to school or they’re in the library, mentees can listen to podcasts on their own time to learn more about the mentors’ tips, lessons, and experiences.

  • Blogs

Blogs are meant to amplify voices of CCRI mentors and mentees about everything and anything related to their experiences in high school and college

  • Newsletters

Upon subscription to our newsletter, which can be done on the bottom of our website’s homepage, mentors and mentees will receive monthly emails from CCRI about events, reminders, and deadlines.

  • Raffle

The program culminates in an end-of-year raffle in May that awards one lucky mentee, given that they’ve completed the end-of-year reflection and attended at least four meetings with their mentor

Just because you’re the first, doesn’t mean you have to be alone.
